I juz recalled watching abt hippos on national geographic channel. Do you noe that researchers are considering reclassifying hippos from the herbivorus group to the omnivorus group? It seems that they are not the gentle herbivores they appear to be! It is shown that hippos, when plants run out, not only eats other animals but their own as well! I was shocked! It is said that a male hippo would kill a baby hippo for 3 reasons... 1) For food (OMG!!!) 2) Territory purposes 3) So he can mate with the baby's mother. (This is because Mother hippos and baby hippos are always seen together. Therefore, the male hippo would have to kill the baby so he could mate with the mother and have his own baby.)
